UPGRADE/DOWNGRADE WARNING

  • When downgrading from 2.0 (or any other future 2.0 release) to an older 1.x-series version (such as 1.4.2) the reset to the factory defaults is performed automatically and ALL DATA WILL BE DELETED (including all settings and recordings).

What's New in 2.0.0 (as of RC1)

This section lists changes since the last pre-release, 2.0.0 RC1.

Enhancements for the KNR-200 Series

  • Improved storage performance and scalability by adding new filesystem support. Newly created storage will now use ext4 filesystem.

Changes and Fixes

  • The option to switch all active cameras to recording playback mode was removed since it was too resource consuming in case of many active cameras
  • Optimized path for obtaining frame-rate and bit-rate information to improve UI responsiveness
  • Fixed a performance issue which prevented usage of multiple CPU cores for video decoding
  • Resolved an issue in which recording playback could occasionally stop unexpectedly
  • Fixed an issue with encoding of the exported video timestamp subtitles
  • Addressed an issue in which it was not possible to select a schedule for an action edited in the source mode

What's New in 2.0 Series

This section summarizes changes relative to the previous 1.4 firmware series.

New Features

New Live and Recordings User Interface

The completely new unified interface for live view and playback is powerful, easy to use and provides many new options:

  • Easy control and customization using Drag & Drop
  • Ability to combine live view and playback in a single grid view
  • Ability to maximize a single device view or entire grid to full screen
  • Automatic or manual stream selection based on device streams available and view cell dimensions
  • Ability to set refresh interval for snapshot stream mode – great for low bandwidth connections
  • Improved video export options
  • Support for multiple monitors

New Settings User Interface

The settings interface is completely new as well. Its new options include:

  • Devices organised to a tree
  • Quick grid-based setup
  • Easy multiple device setup
  • Simplified user buttons creation

Playback and Video Export Improvements

  • Synchronous playback for multiple devices
  • Playback by events (for example playback of only those recordings where a motion was detected)
  • Export a selected time period of recorded video in a single file for selected device; the export includes timestamps in a subtitle file

Backup and Restore Configuration

  • Ability to backup and restore device configuration, recording modes and schedules

Enhancements and Changes

  • Export device lists and system logs to a csv file
  • A new "Locate IPCorder" function is available in Network settings
  • Refined user rights

Device Support

  • All devices supported in the latest 1.4-series releases are also supported in this release.

Known Issues

  • Downgrade from a 2.0 release to an older 1.x release automatically resets the device to factory defaults and erases all data. This is done right after the downgrade so the progress indicator remains at 98% for some time. Migration of data to an older release is not supported.

System Requirements

Operating system

  • Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, 7 (both 32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6
  • Linux 2.6

Web browser

  • Firefox 3.6, 4.0 or newer (recommended)
  • Internet Explorer 8 and 9 (32-bit only)
  • Chrome 12 or newer
  • Safari 4 and 5
  • (JavaScript and cookies need to be enabled)

Java Runtime Environment

  • Java SE 5.0 or newer is required; latest Sun JRE is recommended (the latest update of Sun Java 6)

MPEG4 and H.264 support for the viewer applet requires installation of native libraries to the client computer; the libraries are automatically installed by the Java applet.
